Over the last few years, Rhude is beginning to establish it as a leading streetwear brand by easing urban style into luxury. Founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villaseñor, RHUDE was able to enter the market and grew quickly as a brand with a true design vision and still reflected a raw quality of streetwear. Going from something that rhude started as a hobby and passion into a global clothing company, it is worn by all types of people and all use cases, from athletes to celebrities and even regular people who appreciate fashion.

Rhuigi Villaseñor's idea of Rhude evolved from his specific life instances and the culture and environment he grew up in. When Villaseñor takes an oversized shirt, a pair of ripped jeans, or a full leather jacket; the piece always has to tell an edgy classic story of rebellion.

In terms of their key pieces (along with other key pieces in their collection), the "Traxedo" pants are my favorite because it is a cross between track pants and a tuxedo, and they have a heavy emphasis on graphics, outerwear that may be considered older-styled, and of course, accessories. The stories told in each collection are often a compilation of 'places travelled to' by Villaseñor (the founder), his music, and/or art.

What was once an independent label has grown into a full brand with space at key accounts SSENSE, Farfetch, and Dover Street Market. Rhude's business model emerges from exclusivity. Each drop is meant to be a limited edition, creating hype and demand. The way that Rhude appears to use this model to keep Rhude a premium brand, while continuing to grow, is nothing short of amazing.
In 2021, Rhude achieved another milestone with Rhuigi Villaseñor's appointment at Bally, the Swiss luxury house with a rich heritage. This was a huge endorsement of both Villaseñor and Rhude's influence and stature within fashion. Even though Villaseñor is the creative director of another brand, Rhude remains to be his priority - keeping the same rebellious spirit in Rhude has been in place since it began.

As Rhude evolves, the question becomes how the brand can embody its dialectic of staying the course while still evolving with the business. Villaseñor has signaled new categories coming down the line, foot-wear and womenswear included, and opportunities will arise as a result.
